I want to challenge you to STOP what you’re doing right now (unless it’s time-sensitive, of course), and learn some of the key things you need to know for better business growth in.
It’s not overly complicated, but it does require taking a step back before you can move forward.
- Organize and document your business processes.
Decide which processes you want to systematize and invest in the right tools to help you do this more easily. By utilizing apps designed to help streamline operations, you can get more done, faster. The sooner you do this, the better. It will take some time to get everything streamlined, but it will be oh so worth it – I promise!
- Know your most critical key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key performance indicators are exactly as described – a tangible way to measure your business performance in relation to your specific goals. Without specific performance metrics to measure, it can be difficult to stay on track with your goals. Knowing what your business growth looks like requires precise measurements. A few examples of KPIs to measure may include:
- Number of products sold
- Profit margin
- Expenses
- Unique website visitors
- Conversion rates (for lead generation campaigns)
- Number of returning customers (each month/quarter/year)
These will differ across industries and will depend on what you are trying to achieve.
- Find someone to hold you accountable.
While we may have the best intentions of setting goals and sticking to them, the truth is that without someone holding us accountable (other than ourselves), it is much easier to slack off or put things on the back burner. If you can’t find a person to hold you accountable, there are many digital accountability apps available to choose from, depending on your needs.
- Invest in a coach and/or learn from an expert.
In the spirit of accountability, working with a coach or mentor will go a long way in helping you stay on track with your goals for growth in the new year. Coaches are meant to help you push through whatever obstacles are standing in your way, and they aren’t quick to let you give up on your goals. Additionally, investing in a masterclass, attending a seminar, or simply committing to following an expert in your industry are all great ways to continue to improve your skills and knowledge in your field. The more you know, the better you can serve.
By following these simple tips, you’ll be well on your way to having a more productive and growth-oriented year ahead.
